about south river federation

It will be hard for South River Federation to let go of Kirk Mantay. He has been the main pillar of our large-scale restoration projects over the last 5 years. However, even we have to admit that he couldn't miss this opportunity to become the Director of Operations at a growing regional land trust, the GreenTrust Alliance, headquartered in Annapolis, where he can venture into the expanding world of market-based strategic land protection.

Since arriving at the Federation in 2011, Kirk has helped the Federation become a regional leader in large-scale in-stream restoration projects. The organization's annual construction budget grew from $50,000 in 2010 to over $3 million slated for 2017.
"My goal in 2011 was to demonstrate that it was possible to do grassroots restoration at a scale that makes a real, measurable difference in habitat and water quality" Mantay said. "Well, we're doing it - and people are watching. This approach is the new model for groups up and down the coast," he continued.
Jennifer Carr, the current Watershed Restoration Coordinator, will be stepping up to lead our Restoration efforts as Project Manager. David Lanier, an intern since June 2016, has also earned himself a spot on the restoration team. "Looking at the pipeline of projects underway, I am excited about 2017, said Kate Fritz, Federation Executive Director.
