about south river federation

On Tuesday, January 17th, it was announced that the Crystal Spring Development is changing its plans. The new proposal focuses solely on the retirement community, dropping the mixed-use commercial elements that faced staunch opposition.

While a reduced footprint for the continuing care retirement community at Crystal Spring is a step in the right direction, the Federation remains concerned. The new proposal could allow more infill development in the future since the proposal does not use all the parcels on the property. Further, the Federation is concerned that the proposal is being reviewed using the special exception process which has limited public input, instead of by the Planning Commission. The Federation hopes that the City's Planning and Zoning department will allow review by the Planning Commission, and that the City takes steps to preserve the remaining parcels on the property from further development.
