Annual Scorecard

2014reportcardcoverSince 2007, the Federation has compiled an annual South River Scorecard. Each year, the Scorecard presents data on 10 key indicators of River health, such as: water clarity, dissolved oxygen, underwater grasses, nutrients, and the abundance of aquatic life. Much of the data in the Scorecard has been collected by the South Riverkeeper, but the report also utilizes data from a variety of respected sources such as the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences.  Click here to view the 2014 Scorecard.

* The methods used to calculate nutrient levels were revised between the 2008 and 2009 score to align with Chesapeake Bay Program thresholds.

** In 2010, the scorecard was further refined to bring it into alignment with other Chesapeake reporting efforts.  "Nutrients" was broken into its component parts, Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorus, qualitative indicators (marked by a QL) are no longer scored, and "Enforcement" was broken into local and state scores based on best professional judgment.
