Carol Wong brings a strong sense of community with her to the Federation. In the past, she has volunteered at a retirement home and with Habitat for Humanity. A native to Maryland and the Chesapeake watershed, Carol grew up with the attitude that the Chesapeake Bay is a crucial part of our ecosystem and deserves attention so we are very excited to have Carol as our 2011-2012 Chesapeake Conservation Corps volunteer.
She graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. In the fall of 2012, she will be attending Stanford University for graduate school, where she would like to focus on water quality and water re-use. “I picked the South River Federation because in addition to the community service aspect, it also gives me the opportunity to have hands on experience in water quality testing. I plan on going back to graduate school for environmental engineering with a focus in water quality in developing communities, so the South River Federation is a great way for me to start understanding the subject!”
Carol works closely with the South Riverkeeper®, Diana Muller, on water quality testing, sampling, and analyzing data.
