Mr. Michelsen graduated from the University of Richmond and did graduate work in experimental psychology at Villanova University.  He has been active in Anne Arundel County environmental issues for the past decade and served as a member of the County’s Special Advisory Committee, a citizens group appointed to review the General Development Plan documents.  He was previously employed as a Project Manager by Underwood and Associates, an environmental consulting firm.  Mr. Michelsen is currently Chair of the Maryland Citizens’ Campaign for the Environment, the collected group of environmental organizations advocating to the Maryland General Assembly.  He has served on the Chesapeake Bay Program Sediment Work Group and is a member of the Senior Scientists and Policymakers for the Bay.
