This year's turnout was a record for the Federation! South River is so beautiful, and the Sojourn is such a nice way for us all to enjoy it together. See you all again next year!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this wonderful day happen. Thanks to Patuxent RIVERKEEPER and Spring River for kayak rentals and trailer; Chesapeake Bay Roasting for morning coffee; Capt Jake and the community of Cape St John for the use of their beach for the picnic and Wade-In, and to the Lower Western Shore Tributary Team for their unfailing support, the Barbeque and shuffling kayaks and paddlers (thanks to Jamie Baxter, too).

Meet at 8:30am in the parking lot of the Gateway Village Shopping Center, 156 Defense Highway (Best Buy, Burlington Coat Factory). We'll shuttle kayaks and paddlers to the put-in spot on 450.
We'll paddle about 4 miles to Cape St John Beach
seeing South River up close as we go. It's a beautiful way to spend the morning!
Once we reach Cape St John Beach, the Lower Western Shore Tributary Strategy Team will be waiting for us with a delicious barbeque. At about 1:00, we will conduct a "Bernie Fowler Style" Wade-In to check the water clarity. If you aren't able to paddle, come join us at Cape St John Beach for the Wade-In and cook out.
Bring your own kayak or rent one from Patuxent Riverkeeper (301-249-8200 Press #6. Kayak rental is $20/day). If you'd like a double, please contact Spring River at 410-263-2303. Double kayaks are $25 per day.
You MUST RSVP for this event. Please call our office at 443-482-2155 or email us
info@southriverfederation.net.
If you'd rather not paddle and just come for the Wade- In and picnic, come directly to Cape St. John beach at noon. Please RSVP even if you're not paddling so we can prepare enough food for all!
Directions to Cape St. John beach: If going north on Riva Rd. - turn right on Cape St. John Rd. Go .5 miles and turn right on Valleyview Rd. (Be aware that you have to make a slight left turn to stay on Cape St. John Rd.) Follow Valleyview .6 miles and then take the next left on to Dogwood Trail. Follow the beach sign down the hill.
There is no fee for this event, though non-members are encouraged to join the Federation. Donations are welcome and are tax deductible.
