Oyster Restoration in South River

Since 1999, The Federation has planted over 16 million oysters on restored reefs in South River.

Harness Creek Oyster Restoration Project

The Federation helps maintain and grow Oyster Gardens in Harness Creek. Oysters help filter thousands of gallons of water each day. Review DNR's water quality data from Harness Creek. See the difference oyster gardens make to water quality!

Volunteers maintain oyster buckets on Harness Creek

Individuals and community groups can learn how to grow oysters alongside their docks by contacting Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Oyster Program.

Edgewater Beach new oyster bed with Marl rocks (August 2007)

Thanks to CBF, marl rocks with oysters attached were made available for volunteers to place on rocks at the Edgewater Beach Living Shoreline project.
